Lahari Vimuktha Nadu

According to a recent report drug addiction or alcoholism is a common phenomena. It has been found that drug addiction among the adolescent boys in and around Kolenchery is on the rise. The National Service Scheme, SPC, NCC and Sauhruda club of St.Peter's V&HS School are devising new ways to abolish the menace. To achieve the above aim we arranged an awareness campaign which include: a. Public Meeting Public meeting was conducted at “Choondy Junction”, at the outskirt of Kolenchery which was presided over by the Grama Panchayathu President Sri.Nibu K Kuriakose. The meeting was inaugurated by Sri.V P Sajeendran ,Kunnathu MLA. VHSE Principal Smt.Susane Thomas, staffers and Merchant Association were also present in the meeting. For the effective communication to the general public about the seriousness of drug abuse the following government officials also participated in the meeting.
i. Excise Department Sri.E.M.Jayan(Excise Inspector), Sri.Soman (Asst.Excise Inspector) and Sri.Ramanan (Civil Excise Officer) from the Excise Office, Mamala
ii. Police Department Sri. Manoj K R ( Circle inspector of Police), Sri. Raveendran (S I of police) and Several police men from Puthencruz police Station
b. Koottayottam With the intention of imparting the message to the people in and around of Kolenchery we arranged a 6 KM long “koottayottam” from “Choondy” Junction to MOSE Medical college Junction Kolenchery. In the Koottayottam of the students the presence of police officers was highly appreciatecd. Official vehicles of Police Department and Excise Department accompanied. Students distributed pamphlets to the public about drug abuse. The Koottayottam got a warm welcome by the Y’s men’s Club, Kolenchery.
c. The closing ceremony was inaugurated by the Aikkaranadu Gramapanchayath Vice President Sri.Bineesh Pulyattel. Sri. K.R Manoj, C I of police delivered speech about drug abuse, its consequences, legal aspects etc to the students.
